Ever have a difficult time when it comes to designing the guest bedroom in your house? It’s an extra room that usually resorts to storage space, or a work-out room when the in-laws are not in town. Guest rooms don’t have to be intimidating, and can actually be a fun way to experiment with new design styles. See how we designed #thehighlandshouse guest bedroom, to create a simple and comfortable space that will have guests feeling right at home!
When first stepping into this room, it felt really small, mostly due to the dark colored walls and furniture. The carpet had seen it’s day and the ceiling fan was an eye-sore.
To instantly brighten up the small space and make it feel larger, we busted out our paint brushes and applied a much needed coat of light gray paint to the walls – no more depressing dark blue. We replaced the outdated ceiling fan with a chic chandelier, giving the space an original touch that paired perfectly with the steel bed frame…and added some glam!
For the bed frame and a few of the accessories, we used a black finish to bring out the farm style charm. We added a chair to the corner for extra seating and a wooden nightstand with a reading light. One finishing touch I always add to guest bedrooms is a bouquet of flowers. They are the perfect way to liven up a room and give your guests a warm welcome.
