Feeling like your home is hopeless when it comes to comfortably hosting guests over the holidays? Don’t worry, we got you covered. We’ve all needed a little helping hand to stay afloat (and keep from losing our minds).
Are you the type of host to shove everything in a closet? Or are you the host that we all envy — the one who is effortlessly neat and organized? Either way, we’ve got you covered with easy ways to get your home ready for guests. Your motivational floatie lies ahead.
Bathroom
When it comes to the bathroom, our best advice is to stick to the basics. Make sure there are enough toiletries for guests to use: hand soap and lotion by the sink, and shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. If you know your guests are forgetful, maybe have some extra toothbrushes and toothpaste on hand. And while you are at it, give them a stack of sticky notes so they can make a list next time they’re packing (kidding!).

Before you forget, go put a load of laundry in so you’ll have some clean towels ready. No one wants to step out of the shower and realize they don’t have a towel to dry off with! We recommend having at least two towels per guest, especially if they are staying for awhile. Same with toilet paper — make sure to have plenty of that so no one is getting a distressed text from the bathroom! Maybe even put it in a cute basket so guests don’t have to rummage through your cabinets looking for extra. And since we’re on the topic, store a plunger in the guest bathroom because there is nothing more embarrassing than having to ask for one after the fact…

Bedroom
Whether you have a spare bedroom, some extra air mattresses, or just a good ol’ couch, ensure your guests are sleeping comfortably with enough pillows and blankets. You’ll want to make sure you have different types of blankets at different thicknesses, and if you’re really feeling fancy, have different types of pillows. Think you have enough blankets for them? Think again and get more. Nothing is worse than sleeping at someone’s house and waking up freezing in the middle of the night with nothing to be done about it!

We’ve said it before and we will say it again: keep it simple. It doesn’t take much for guests to appreciate your hospitality and feel welcome, especially with these easy tips. Just think clean. And extras. Lots of extras. Just know whether you’re feeling hashtag stressed or hashtag blessed, your home will be looking its hashtag best.
