Coffee tables are the perfect place to add interest and personality to your space. Don’t know where to start? We have 3 incredibly easy steps you can follow to get that coffee table looking stylish!

SET THE FOUNDATION

Much like building a house, when you style your coffee table, you want to start with a solid foundation.  What does that mean?  Well I like to go for a larger base item – whether that be a tray, wide bowl, or large book.  This helps everything feel grounded and collected and sets the tone for your table.

ADD HEIGHT

One of my tricks of the trade when it comes to styling coffee tables is to make sure you have a variety of heights.  This helps to add dimension and interest.  Vases are a great option for this because they add height and give you the ability to add some greenery. Other objects that can work are larger candles, lanterns, or decorative glass jars.  But vases with greens will always be my favorite. lUsually tall objects are set within the tray or to the left or right of the centerpiece. We recommend only using 1 tall objects total or else your table gets too busy.

FILL IT IN!

Lastly, you’ll incorporate your smaller objects. We love to use small plants, books, candles, and geometric objects. This is the layer where you can get creative. Maybe you really love small house decor items at a shop in town. Feel free to use these in your design to add a unique touch. We’re all about adding that personal flare in the spaces we design.

The best places to set these small objects would be layered on-top of books, placed in bowls or styled in the center tray. You can use up to 3-4 smaller items depending on the size of your table. The goal is to achieve a balanced look, so make sure you are choosing items of various sizes.
