welcome home

With the arrival of our new baby girl, Sadie, we decided it’s time Myka got a “big girl” room! Keep reading below for a breakdown of the design decisions behind her new room and links to the sources.

Bed Frame

One of the first pieces we bought for the room, and what served as a jumping off point for the design, was this upholstered mauve bed frame with a rounded headboard. It feels perfect for Myka’s transition to a “big girl” bedroom and bed since it is playful yet still can grow with her.

Bedding

I will die on a hill preaching about how great Beddy’s are! The off-white quilt bedding on this bed is actually from Beddy’s, which is zipper bedding. They now make a set where it goes on like a fitted sheet with a comforter on top zipped together. BUT, the best part is that not only does the comforter zip off, but also the top of the fitted sheet. So when doing laundry you just zip those two top pieces off and then zip ’em back on when it’s clean! We have the original set too on our bunk beds and they work like a dream as well.

Nightstands

If I’m being honest, I thought these nightstands were going to be more of a true white, but the off-white color still works great in the room! We grabbed these from a trade-only source, so if are looking to buy these nightstands, reach out to us to set up an order.

Pink Lamps & Ceiling Light

The pink lamps for the nightstands and the seagrass ceiling felt like the bed, in a way, since they are playful enough for Myka, but still versitile to grow with her. If you’re looking to purchase the lamps or the light, reach out to us and we can set up an order!

Crib

Our plan for transitioning her into her big girl room and big girl bed was to move her into the room but keep her sleeping in a crib a long as possible so that it wasn’t so much change at one time. Then when the time came, she could move to the twin bed and we wouldn’t need the crib anymore! We love this neutral crib because honestly it could work in just about any nursery or kids room.

Rocking Chair & Sheep Blanket

We moved this rocking chair from her other room because we just love it so much! It swivels, glides, and is performance fabric, which if you have young kids, you know is a life saver! Plus, we paired this sheep blanket with it to be the perfect amount of neutral and playful.

Wall Baskets

As soon as I saw these baskets baskets, I knew I needed them. They tie in the ceiling fixture and are practical for storage as well! They turn organization into decor by simply placing some stuffed animals or toys inside.

Wallpaper

This wallpaper might be the best part of the whole design! It’s subtle enough where it doesn’t overwhelm the room but fits the design of the room so it all feels cohesive. The perfect balance between adding texture and interest without over-doing it. You can purchase the wallpaper through here or reach out to us and we can set up an order for you!

Table & Chairs

We’ve posted this table and chairs on our Instagram before and they were such a hit- everyone was asking for the link! Get the table here and the chairs here.

Scalloped Shelves

Above the table we installed these adorable scalloped shelves so that this little space felt like an intentional spot for reading or other tasks instead of just randomly putting the shelves somewhere else! Just like the wall baskets, they turn organization into decor by simply setting books on the ledge.
