Welcome to the amazing TWO STORY living room in #TheTonkaHouse! When our clients asked for a bright, inviting space we were sure to give them just that! I think we should start by telling you our favorite feature! Any guesses what it is?! 

If you were thinking the fireplace then you’re correcto-mundo! What used to be outdated and, to be honest, straight up ugly (see before image below) is now the focal point of the room! We completely stripped the fireplace to it’s studs and replaced the unit, and added natural stone all the way to the ceiling.  Design tip: if you want your room to feel taller, extend your fireplace all the to the ceiling (it gives the room amazing height).

Along with replacing the fireplace, the rest of the room got a little facelift too. The carpets were ripped out and replaced with a gorgeous hardwood flooring. We updated the trim with a more contemporary version, finished the space by painting the walls a classic grey and the cabinets and trim white. It’s a simple fix, but there’s nothing like a fresh coat of paint to instantly lighten a space.
