We wanted to give a little glimpse into the design/build process at Alma Homes, from the perspective of one of our current clients! Rachel is currently building a home with us, and was generous enough to share some of her time and thoughts about the building process!

What made you decide to build with Alma Homes? How long have you been planning to build? 

We sold our home this past fall as we outgrew it with our daughter. We were looking for a new home to buy; however, with the insane market we weren’t having any luck finding the right fit. The lot next door to our sister went up for sale and we knew right then and there that was the perfect fit for us, to build next door to our sister, in our old neighborhood that we LOVED so much. If we ever were going to build (which was a dream of ours) it was always going to be with Alma!

Note: Building a home is a great option with the housing market so crazy right now! Plus, you don’t have to go to a million showings!

What point are you at in the building process right now? 

We are in the construction stage currently, with the foundation just being finished last week.

What has surprised you most about the design/build process? 

We have been pleasantly surprised with how quickly Alma’s amazing team can work and make things happen!

What has been your favorite part of the design/build process so far? 

The design selections were definitely a favorite part, but now with construction starting it is so fun to see everything coming to life!

What are you most excited about in your new home? 

Our open concept kitchen/living room with sliders out to a back patio.

One of our favorite aspects of the custom home process is the ability to truly make it your perfect home! A mother-in-law suite, a sport court, open concept vs. a more traditional layout, we can design it to be perfect for you and your family!

If you could share anything about your experience designing and building with Alma Homes with our readers, what would you like to share? 

We’d highly recommend Alma Homes for designing and building a home given their knowledge and experience. They are extremely talented and helpful in every step of the process.

Any other thoughts you’d like to include about building your own home? 

We’ve learned a lot about designing and building a home, and although there are a lot of things to consider and many decisions to make, we wouldn’t change a thing about it!
