‘Tis the season for all the home projects, and it can feel so overwhelming as a homeowner to take on a seemingly never-ending “to-do” list! We’re listing a few ways you can easily give your home a facelift right now without spending a ton of time and money, or having to hire professionals.
Refresh your landscaping
Your yard and landscaping are one of the first things people notice when they see your house (other than maybe the house itself). We did a whole post last week on simple ways to improve your home’s landscaping, go check it out and implement some of the tips in your own yard!
Makeover your front door
A beautiful front door can change the entire exterior appearance of your home. Consider painting your door with a pop of bright color or even just black to contrast with a light house exterior. You can upgrade to an entirely new door if you’re ready for a major change – there are some real showstoppers out there – or you can also consider updating the hardware on your door for a simple way to update an older design.
Deep clean
When was the last time you really cleaned the outside of your home? Check your gutters, windows, and siding, and give them all a good deep cleaning to really make your home shine. Use a power washer on siding, patios and driveways, and you’ll be amazed at how much dirt was building up! Plus, power washing is super satisfying, too.
Dress up your porch
If your porch or entryway is bare, consider adding some simple outdoor decor. An eye-catching welcome mat, wreath on the door, new house numbers and potted plants are all great, easy ways to add interest to the entryway of your home without spending too much time or money. Add string lights and comfy furniture for a cozy vibe that’s perfect for summer lounging, as well.
Add shutters or accent trim
New shutters and trim can drastically change the appearance of your home. This one is a slightly bigger project, but the end result is beautiful and does so much for your curb appeal. You can even do a more drastic makeover, like these wood planks at the #mplsmodern!
Bonus: Check the details
Little things go a long way. Add window boxes with flowers, update your mailbox if it’s old or an eyesore, update old light fixtures and fix chips in the paint quickly. Spending just a few hours making small updates and doing quick fixes can make a huge difference in your home’s curb appeal, and save you from a major overhaul of your home all at once.
Whether you’re looking to improve curb appeal in order to sell your home, or you just want to keep things looking nice, staying on top of your home’s exterior is always a good idea. We want to hear about your top ways to spruce up the outside of your home, so please share them below, and over on Instagram @AlmaHomes, too!

My mother would like to have her home’s curb appeal improved by having its trees trimmed. Thank you for sharing here as well the importance of having its exterior cleaned and repainted. Aside from this, you are also right that she must opt for a bold hue.
I don’t remember mentioning the weekend regarding improving a home’s curb appeal. So the mention of a weekend doesn’t make any sense.
I may need your help. I tried many ways but couldn’t solve it, but after reading your article, I think you have a way to help me. I’m looking forward for your reply. Thanks.
