We pride ourselves in being able to look at a room and see past all of the outdated and straight up ugly furniture and find great potential in a space. The master bedroom at #thehighlandshouse was no exception! What may look like a dreary old bedroom to some, looked like a canvas full of endless possibilities to us! We took what originally was a rather large (for the size of the house) master bedroom, and reconfigured the space to add in a walk in closet and master bathroom.
In the bedroom, we wanted to bring in neutral tones to keep the space feeling fresh and uncluttered , and of course I had to include white bedding! You’d think with having a black dog, I’d stray away from white, but nope, white bedding, all day every day. What can I say?
We opted for a an upholstered bed because I like that it feels a little more feminine and softer – literally – which is if you’re a movie-in-bed person like me… 🙂 Replacing the current bedside tables with these circular wooden side tables gave the space a modern rustic feel to match the rest of the house.
To save space and add a serious punch of style, we opted for a barn door. This simple addition added so much character to the bedroom and broke up the gray and white with a fun pop of color.
